Oil meal is a byproduct of oil extraction from soybeans, peanuts, corn, sunflower seeds, sesame, etc. It has the highest nutritional value among all plants.

Main uses:

1. As a fertilizer for plants (organic fertilizer).

2. As a feed for livestock, it can also be eaten by humans: peanut cake meal can be used to feed monogastric animals such as pigs and chickens and ruminant livestock, and it has a good palatability. However, due to the poor amino acid composition of peanut meal and its susceptibility to aflatoxin infection, the amount of feed is subject to certain restrictions. However, even if peanut meal is infected with aflatoxin, it can be treated with ammonia to detoxify and then fed to ruminant livestock (this method is ineffective for monogastric animals). Adding cottonseed meal to cattle feed Wanapat et al. (2013) used Latin square design to study the effects of carbon source and cottonseed meal level in the diet on feed intake, rumen fermentation and milk production of dairy cows. The results showed that the total feed intake of cattle fed with high cottonseed meal content was significantly higher than that of the low cottonseed meal content group (P<0.05), while feeds with different cottonseed meal content had no significant effect on the total amount of bacteria in the rumen that can decompose cellulose and protein (P>0.05). Studies have shown that when the addition of whole cottonseed increased from 13% to 23%, the production of CH4 in the rumen was significantly reduced, and the average body weight gain and milk production of lactating cows decreased by 31% and 10%, respectively.
